About
Prospective practioners can either come and watch a lesson, or
join in if they complete and send off the Bujinkan Britain membership
form prior to training.
Classes
are led by a 6th Dan teacher who travels to Japan regularly to
train with the top practitioners within the Bujinkan. On the odd
occassion when he cannot make the class, learning in Japan for
example, other senior practioners could be asked to take the class.
Format
New practioners are requested to arrive earlier to be greeted
by the instructor.
Before
each class there is a warm up session following which the class
then assembles, greetings exchanged and the lesson begins.
We
train in a fairly informal and friendly atmosphere as this helps
learning.
We focus on learning how to move the body so as to protect ourselves
from harm. During training expect to examine techniques, with
and without weapons, in rolling, break falling, striking, throwing
and locking for self defence.
We
do not have a beginner's class as such, the lesson is integrated
and as a 'new' practioner, you will be supported through the lesson
by both the instructor and more experienced practioners.
We also encourage people to ask questions, as this also helps
in everyone's development.
We
do not hold or participate in competitions, as the Bujinkan martial
arts is not a sport. We do however have a grading system - gradings
are organised by the instructor, and occur annually. All grades
are registered with our Grand Master, based in Tokyo, Japan.
Additionally,
we actively encourage members to attend seminars with other instructors,
and if at all possible, visit Japan to train with the Grand Master
and his senior teachers.
